Blogging Friends!

For the last few weeks I have been from one side of the country to the other. I’ve traveled to Los Angeles, Phoenix, Atlanta, NYC and everywhere in between. My teaching focus has been on Pursuing God all year long but not in some generic way but in very specific ways. Lately I have been consumed with the idea of “pursuing God’s pathway”. The thought behind this comes from Psalms 16.11, “You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”

My belief is that the path of life is our quest to walk in the purpose of God and when we do this it results in joy, peace and godly pleasure. We have to remain conscious of God’s presence with us at all times and live with a desire to fulfill His plan for our lives.

My questions to you are, “What do you personally do in order to stay on the ‘path of life’?” and “What is the path of life to you?”

To all my blogging friends!

My week has been a little crazy. I drove up to D.C. and spoke with about sixty pastors about How t0 Lead in Difficult Times. It went very well. I returned to speak to Regent University’s Chapel about the Role of African American Christians in American Christianity. (You can take a look at my notes if you like).

After you read, I want to ask you to think with me about how Christians of different races and cultures can best work together to expand the kingdom of God.

Thanks for all your prayers this week. I could feel them lifting me.

Inauguration Insights Continuing from Last Week

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the great comments and thoughts on my blog. A couple of you asked me to break it down a little more so here it goes...

The idea that a generation has passed since Dr. King died and the five generations have passed since the birth of Lincoln made me consider a couple of things. First, is this now a new generation of African American leadership that is not limited to any one community? Is this the time of fulfillment of King's vision and dream? The vision of African Americans serving and leading all Americans.

Is this the time for the church to walk in the powerful grace of God and bring people to the change and prosperity that only Jesus can give?

Inauguration Insights

As I stood in the midst of more than a million people Tuesday at one of the most historic presidential inaugurations, a million thoughts and questions were running through my mind. Would the new president be able to live up to such great expectations? Would people support him after the inauguration? Did we understand the trying times before us? Of course, I had no concrete answers to these questions, and just as I acknowledged that, another more formidable question ran through my heart: click here to read more
